So, Matt and I just got back from our vacation in Ontario last weekend.
I would have made a blog post sooner, but unfortunately, it’s easy to catch colds on an airplane, so yeah. Matt & I both are feeling a little under the weather

. The trip was great at least! I got to meet Matt’s father’s side of the family. Matt’s great grandfather was Mitchell Frederick Hepburn, Premier of Ontario, Canada, from 1934 to 1942. I got to learn a little bit about the family history and at the suggestion on my brother in law, Aaron, we visited the The Elgin Military Museum in St. Thomas. I got to learn which members of the family fought in WWI & II, and a little bit more about Grandpa Sinclair and Grandpa Mitchell. It was very interesting

We went to Port Stanley and visited some very quaint little gift shops, we also ate at a place called “Mackie’s” Where they pride themselves on orangeade, and a strange sauce made from oranges

. I am not quite sure what the ingredients are, but it had a citrusy flavor.

Did you know that “Jumbo” wasn’t even a word? The giant elephant’s name has spawned the common word “jumbo” as meaning large in size. Jumbo the elephant was hit by a train in St. Thomas, where a jumbo sized memorial now stands in honor of him

Hiking

The weekend was rather eventful. Saturday, my friends and I went to Lynn Headwaters and hiked over 17 Km. I needed to stop and take a few breaks along the way, but overall I am proud of myself for my endurance! I took some very interesting pictures along the way, such as this one of my friend, the lovely Steph:

In my late night etsy lurking, I found this pattern for a Peep’s candy rabbit scarf .

Recently I found a picture of my husband that makes me smile .
Back in September, Matt and I started out on an adventure to Mount Pleasant. The original intent was to find a winter coat for myself, but we ambled along admiring the beautiful Victorian mansions, visiting yard sales, and taking pictures of graffiti with our cellphones.

We eventually ended up seeing Tamara, Val, and Chris on that day too. I found a gorgeous yellow coat and had some of the best gelato ever – bubblegum and chocolate. Deadly, but mmm…
We should do stuff like that more often !
